Vladyka Michael blesses the establishment of St. Olympia Hermitage

With the blessing of His Eminence Michael, Archbishop of New York and the Diocese of NY/NJ, the seed of monastic life in the southwestern corner of St. Lawrence County has been planted with the founding of the Hermitage of Saint Olympia. The mission of the hermitage is to grow in faith and love for Jesus Christ, the eternally begotten Son and Word of God, to share the good news of great joy that “The Word became flesh and dwelt among us” and to convey this message through a life of prayer, Christian service, study and the practice of Orthodox Christian iconography. The hermitage accepts prayer requests and icon commis-sions, and will bake small prosfora loaves for personal prayer offerings. The choice of patron emphasizes the close relation between the hermitage and St. Olympia Orthodox Church where the hermitage provides support by baking prosfora, reading and chanting, preparing food for the fellowship potluck lunch after Sunday Divine Liturgies, and prayer for the spiritual growth of the mission and its members. There will be a Vespers service at St. Olympia Hermitage on Tuesday, January 15th, at 5 pm at 16 Trout Lake St., Apt. 4A, Edwards, NY. A light dinner will follow. All are welcome. For more information, go to www.saintolympiahermitage.org
